Former employee at GRCC bookstore admits to embezzling up to $50,000

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A former employee at Grand Rapids Community College’s student bookstore pleaded guilty in Kent County Circuit Court Tuesday, March 5 to embezzling as much as $50,000, according to court records.

Susan Cain is a former corporate lawyer and negotiations consultant and a self-described introvert. Her book has sparked a genuine national conversation about introverts. Although our culture undervalues them dramatically, introverts have made some of the great contributions to society from Chopin’s nocturnes to the invention of the personal computer to Gandhi’s transformative leadership. Based on intensive research in psychology and neurobiology, Cain argues that we design our schools, workplaces, and religious institutions for extroverts, and that this bias creates a waste of talent, energy, and happiness.

Four NJCAA district tournaments bring basketball extravaganza to Delta College

UNIVERSITY CENTER — With four tournaments and four titles on the line, it’s going to be a banner weekend at Delta College.

… The District G women’s district features No. 11 Lake Michigan vs. Lansing at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and No. 18 Kalamazoo Valley vs. Grand Rapids at 7:30 p.m. The title game is set for 1 p.m. Saturday.

… In District 9, it’s Grand Rapids vs. Lansing at 5:30 p.m. Friday and No. 9 Glen Oaks vs. Jackson at 7:30 p.m. The title game is 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
