Policy highlights

Highlights for Facility Use Policy (new):

  • This is a new Policy
  • The “Facility Use and Fee Structure” document  was never a policy;  the process for approval for use and related fee structures was not consistent across campus facilities
  • The previous “Facility Use and Fee Structure” document has not been reviewed/updated since December 2001.
  • Proposed policy establishes facility use intent, prioritizes use hierarchy and establishes expectations for fees
  • This policy will apply to all campus facilities.
  • GRCC’s fee structure must still be reviewed and updated.
  • A fees and procedures document will still need to be developed.

Highlights of Recommended Changes to Policy 10.1, Tuition and Fees (revised)

  • A provision for a separate dual enrollment rate was incorporated into the revised policy (item #4)
  • The statement around universal fees was clarified (item #5)
  • The statement indicating that any student that is not a United States Citizen will be charged out of state tuition was eliminated, and the section describing acceptable documentation to prove residency was expanded.
  • The policy statement has been expanded to reference job training and construction trades.

A’reona Howard, Tracey Lacey named Student Employees of the Year

Congratulations to our Student Employee of the Year Recipients: A’reona Howard from The Grand Rapids Children’s Museum (Honorable Mention) and Tracey Lacey from the Cashier’s Office (Winner)! Below is an excerpt from each’s Nomination Letter along with a photo of each from our Student Employee of the Year Luncheon which took place on April 12, 2013.

039042A’reona is an essential member of our team here at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum. She is a positive influence on both the children and adults that she interacts with here. All the staff here love her because not only is she hard working but she also makes work enjoyable. Always smiling, laughing, and encouraging kids to be creative, it’s truly an honor to have her be a part of this organization.

Since beginning working in the Cashier’s Office Tracey has definitely gone above and beyond her required responsibilities. She is not afraid to step up and take on a leadership role. She has volunteered to be a student ambassador with SALT. She has truly been an asset to our office and we are so happy to have her apart of our team. I think Tracey should be Student Employee of the Year because she has demonstrated all of the qualities that make her deserving of this award. She is reliable, has good work ethic, motivated, self-starter, and professional. I really hope that she is honored because she truly deserves this recognition!

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF YOU!!!
