Biker safety gets a boost

Led by Michigan’s Secretary of State, about 30 motorcyclists rode Wednesday to promote safety.

… They chose the site because for more than a year the base has offered a motorcycle training class through Grand Rapids Community College for both members of the Guard and civilians. Senior Master Sgt. Michael LaBruzzy said several people have been trained to conduct the classes and 375 people have taken them in the last year.

… The state has worked with Grand Rapids Community College for six years to provide motorcycle training to 3,600 people, according to Fiona Hert, dean of the School of Workforce Development at the college.

More than 120,000 people have attended training since 2001.

No answer to the call button: Nursing shortage looms in Michigan

In 2007, warning of a nurse shortage in Michigan and long admission waiting lists for nursing schools, then- Gov. Jennifer Granholm proclaimed: “Something’s wrong with this picture and we are going to fix it.”

… At Grand Rapids Community College, the wait list for its RN program is 3.5 to 4 years. And it has been that length for several years, according to Michelle Richter, GRCC’s nursing school director.

  1. I don’t know if it’s just me or if perhaps everybody else experiencing
    problems with your blog. It appears like some of the text within your posts are running off the screen.
