May 2, 2013; The Chicago Tribune

Executives representing some of the largest manufacturers in the U.S. urged community college presidents to reach out and form partnerships to help them train desperately needed middle skills workers.

… “The stronger the relationship and the communication is between community colleges and employers, and the more we struggle though this journey together, the better opportunity we have to be the right side of the curve,” said Dr. Steven Ender, President of Grand Rapids Community College.

GRCC students step up to help food pantry

A nice story that was shared by Maggie Montes-Spruit, of TRiO/Student Support Services:

I felt compelled to share a story with you all about my PY 201 class.  As many of you know, our GRCC Food Pantry is running dangerously low so I asked my students to donate any non-perishable foods they could part with for our GRCC students in need.  I was so overwhelmed by their generosity!  I had to use a flat-bed cart to transport all of the donations to my car and then to Student Life!  GRCC STUDENTS ARE AMAZING!!!
