GRCC’s Physical Sciences Department, in collaboration with the National Science Foundation, is offering two Forensic Chemistry Camps this summer. High school students interested in forensic chemistry can check it out July 8 through 12, 2013, or July 15 through 19 — free of charge.
The goal of the camps is to provide Grand Rapids area high school students who are interested in science with the opportunity to use analytical instrumentation in an inquiry-based forensic chemistry experience. Students from across West Michigan are encouraged to apply.
As part of the camp, students will use gel electrophoresis, infrared (IR) spectroscopy, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and other methods of analysis to find the perpetrator of a simulated arson crime.
