Construction trades safety courses set for summer

A four-hour GRCC course specifically covers First Aid/CPR recertification for the construction trades industry to help prepare for and prevent medical emergencies. The course reviews: primary assessment; heart problems; fractures; wounds and bandaging; stroke and shock management; eye injuries; dislocation and splinting; obstructed airways;  exposure to cold; control of bleeding; electrical injuries; back, head and neck injuries; epileptic seizures; and one-rescuer CPR.

After completion, you will be recertified in First Aid/CPR and will receive an official card. The recertification expires two years after completion; replacements for lost cards are $10.

Sessions run 6-10 p.m. May 23 and June 25, 2013, at Tassell M-TEC, and cost $50. To register, click here.

A 10-hour program at presents an overview of MIOSHA regulations for the construction industry. Detailed information is presented to enable you to develop an accident prevention plan as required by Rule 114 of MIOSHA Construction Safety Standard Part 1, General Rules. An overview of MIOSHA inspection procedures is presented, as well as the most frequently cited MIOSHA violations in the construction industry. You will gain detailed information regarding construction and health standards relative to the industry. Students will receive a 10-hour card upon successful completion of the class.
