Restaurant Week 2013 reveals specialized menu items for 3-course meals

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Grand Rapids Restaurant Week, Aug. 14-24, will include more than 65 restaurants 16 for the first time. Special menu items from each of the participating restaurants were released this morning. See the complete list at restaurantweekgr.com.

… A dollar from each Restaurant Week meal sold during the event will be donated by the restaurants to a student scholarship fund at Secchia Institute for Culinary Education. Since 2010, Restaurant Week Grand Rapids has donated nearly $60,000 to the scholarships.

Beach Bites offers snacks – and education

District 9 Big League Softball team has longer road to World Series

For the past several years, Michigan District 9 has had an easier road to reach a World Series because Pinery Park played host to the Central Region Big League baseball and softball tournaments.

IT’s Prioritized Project List

The Project Prioritization Team (PPT) prioritized the projects that are submitted to the IT department. The Project Prioritization Team (PPT) met on 7/2 and prioritized the projects for the 2013-2014 budget year. This prioritization process allows IT to budget and use its resources in the most effective way.

The Collegiate accepting applications for editors, business manager

The Collegiate, GRCC’s award-winning student newspaper and web publication, is looking for a new team of student editors for the 2013/14 school year and faculty and staff are encouraged to share this opportunity with their brightest and best student writers, photographers, graphic artists and page designers. Curious students with excellent writing and editing skills, are encouraged to apply for the open editor positions listed below. These are paid positions that involve a serious time commitment in exchange for a rewarding on-the-job learning experience directly applicable to careers in journalism, public relations, writing, editing, sports information, broadcasting, photography, magazine publishing and business.

Ideal candidates have already completed JR 251 and JR 252, however students who have successfully completed advanced English courses are welcome to apply now and take JR 251 and JR 252 during their editing tenure. Students are encouraged to apply for all the positions they are interested in to ensure that they will be considered for more than one if applicable. The Collegiate is also looking for a Business Manager to manage ad sales for both the print and online publications. This student will earn a commission from the ad sales. Interested students can contact The Collegiate adviser directly.
