ArtPrize seeks 1,000 volunteers, hosts sign-up rally

GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) — ArtPrize is looking for 1,000 volunteers to make the fifth annual competition a success.

A volunteer kickoff rally, sponsored by Grand Rapids Community College, was held Wednesday evening, offering interested volunteers a chance to sign up.

Forest Hills Fine Arts Center marks 10th year with 55-artist retrospective

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Forest Hills Fine Arts Center’s 10th anniversary celebration welcomes Air Supply, Lyle Lovett and John Hiatt and the Addams Family Musical next season.

Cody Kater is a well-traveled college quarterback.

First, there was his commitment to Central Michigan when Butch Jones was the Chippewas’ head coach. Before ever officially being part of CMU’s roster, he followed Jones to Cincinnati, which he later said was a mistake. After a year there, he wound up at Grand Rapids Community College for a year where he led it to a perfect 11-0 record in 2011.

The Cashier’s Office, Counseling and Career Center, Enrollment Center, Financial Aid, Occupational and Disability Support, Student Life and Conduct and Student Records will be open until 6:30 p.m. to serve you!

RJG Master Molder class starts in September 2013

The RJG Master Molder Certification Series is designed for the process technician, engineer or manager who needs to understand and demonstrate injection-molding skills at the machine. Anyone responsible for implementing a processing strategy in a plant or anyone held accountable for quality-control issues is a prime candidate for this training.

This fall, commit to improve quality through these courses offered through GRCC Workforce Training:

  • Process Based Auditing, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 17, 2013.
  • TS 16949 Internal Auditor, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. September 25 through 27.
  • ISO 14000 Internal Auditor, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 30 and 31.
  • Statistical Process Control – SPC I, 8 a.m. to noon November 13.
  • Statistical Process Control – SPC II, 8 a.m. to noon November 20.
  • ISO 13485 Internal Auditor, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. February 17 through 19, 2014.
  • AS 9100 Internal Auditor, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 10 through 12.
