GRAND RAPIDS, MI — A 38-year-old man died in his car of cardiovascular disease, just hours after he had searched the Internet for heart-trouble symptoms while at a college’s computer lab.

Grand Rapids police look into death of GRCC Student

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Grand Rapids Police are investigating the death of a Grand Rapids Community College student. Police say a security officer found the male student’s body Monday morning in a car in the DeVos Parking Lot on GVSU’s downtown campus.

YAVAPAI COLLEGE NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT

Yavapai College has hired Stuart Blacklaw, Ph.D. as its new vice president of instruction and student services.
…Blacklaw also served as an assistant dean in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Grand Rapids Community College.

Local athletes competing at collegiate level

The NJCAA’s Division II No. 3-ranked Grand Rapids Community College’s Katlyn Agren (Cadillac H.S.), a freshman DS/OH, recorded nine digs and five kills on nine attempts for a team high .556 hitting percentage against fourth-ranked Muskegon Community College on Tuesday as the Raiders went on to take the match 25-22, 25-16, 24-26, 27-25.
Agren has started 7-of-8 matches for GRCC this season recording 22 kills, 75 digs and 3 aces in 29 sets in 2013.

LMC Receiving Federal Grant For Manufacturing Job Training

The U.S. Department of Labor is giving a $1.2 million grant to Lake Michigan College to support LMC’s Job Readiness Program.
…LMC is one of eight Michigan colleges receiving the money, with others including Macomb Community College, Lansing Community College and Grand Rapids Community College.
