Taps bugler from EGR who broke famous note at JFK funeral to be honored at Arlington

Fifty years ago this month, a U.S. Army bugler from East Grand Rapids flubbed a note during a solo rendition of taps at a funeral.

… “The sixth note is a flat note, ” said (Keith) Clark, who played band at East Grand Rapids High School and was drafted in 1946 while attending Grand Rapids Junior College (now GRCC) and working as the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra librarian.

Suspended Ferris State coach Tony Annese to return Friday: ‘I’m ready to go’

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — In 26 years as a head coach, Tony Annese never missed a game for any reason, but his Nov. 6 suspension by Ferris State administrators broke that streak.

… Annese, whose coaching past includes stops in Jenison, Muskegon and Grand Rapids Community College, was suspended Nov. 6 by the university following a locker room incident during halftime of a game Oct. 26 at Michigan Tech.
