LaughFest FUNderwear 5K offers ‘brief’ jog through Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — It’s as close to streaking as you can legally get unless the weather inspires you to wear your underwear over warmer clothes during LaughFest’s FUNderwear run Sunday, March 9.
The race starts at 10 a.m. at the GRCC Ford Fieldhouse, 111 Lyon St. NE; on-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m. Runners can also pre-register for $30 online at laughfestgr.org. Registration includes an official T-shirt while supplies last.
Fountain Street Church holds Mardi Gras fundraising event

Grand Rapids (WZZM) – If a trip to New Orleans is not in the picture this Mardi Gras do not to worry. Fountain Street Church is bringing a taste of Bourbon Street to Grand Rapids.
… “Why would people not from Fountain Street church want to come? There are several reasons. One of which is this is a venue for not just church but for the GRCC Diversity Learning Center lectures, the Hauenstein center for other groups like LaughFest so we want to invite the community to help support not just the church but the work we do for the larger community,” said Fred Wooden, senior minister for the church.

… WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Jayhawks (16-11) won a pair of games last week. MCC defeated JCC, 86-52, on Feb. 26. MCC led 43-21 at halftime and increased its lead in the second half. Krystal Geers led MCC with 20 points and 16 rebounds, and Abby Rodriguez added 17 points and eight steals.
… The Jayhawks host Grand Rapids Community College Tuesday in the opening round of the Region XII Tournament.
… SOFTBALL: The Jayhawks (0-5) lost all five games they played at the NFCA Lead Off Classic. MCC opened the tournament with a 12-1 loss to No. 9 Wallace-Hanceville on Feb. 28.
… The Jayhawks aren’t scheduled to play again until they travel to take on Grand Rapids CC on March 21.
