Actors’ Theatre, criticized by two GRCC trustees for controversial plays, stops receiving college funding

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Actors’ Theatre, a community theater group housed at Grand Rapids Community College, announced Wednesday it will no longer receive funding from the college.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A Grand Rapids Community College board member who has long been critical of Actors’ Theatre said he’s “pleasantly surprised” the organization will no longer seek an annual subsidy of $19,000 from the college.

 

Call for artists for two regional exhibitions in Grand Rapids, Muskegon

Both the Festival of the Arts in Grand Rapids and the Muskegon Museum of Art have announced their call for artists for regional art exhibitions each group will be hosting this summer.

…This year’s jurors are Nick Antonakis, Grand Rapids Community Colleges visual department head and professor for painting and drawing; Sara Lowethian, photographer and adjunct professor at Kendall College of Art and Design at Ferris State University; and Lorain Smalligan, executive director of LowellArts!

 

Building a bottle greenhouse

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOTV) Recycling is the perfect way to make a footprint in saving our plant. In late April, Goodwill AmeriCorps will team up with 75 students from Godfey Lee School to build a water bottle greenhouse.

…United Way and Grand Rapids Community College collected recycled water bottles needed for the project.
