Rising local actors awarded $6,000 in scholarships at Festival of the Arts 2014

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Three scholarships worth $6,000 for young actors were among the awards presented during Festival of the Arts 2014.

… Patrick Mulligan, of Ada, was awarded the newly named Paul Dreher Scholarship. He has appeared in such roles as Simon the Zealot in “Jesus Christ Superstar” recently for Circle Theatre, and as Seymour Krelborn in “Little Shop of Horrors” for Cornerstone University in 2013, for which he recently was nominated for a 2014 College Grand Award for Best Lead Actor.

… A 2013 graduate of Forest Hills Eastern High School, Mulligan attended Grand Rapids Community College for one year and now plans to Atlantic Acting School.

Weemhoff, Morseau named top employees of Ionia County Sheriff’s Office

IONIA COUNTY, Mich. — Nic Weemhoff and Kris Morseau have been selected by their co-workers as the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office Deputy of the Year and Support Person of the Year, respectively.

(Articles doesn’t mention it, but Deputy Weemhoff is a GRCC Police Academy alumnus.)

Top Grads: Calvary Christian Schools announces top students in the class of 2014

FRUITPORT, MI — Calvary Christian Schools has announced its top graduates in the class of 2014.

… Morgan Rude, daughter of Rick and Jewell Rude. She was involved with student council and athletics. She plans to attend Muskegon Community College and Grand Rapids Community College to pursue a career in interior design.
