GRCC Secchia Culinary Institute Gets Top Honors from Magazine, Federation

Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education has picked up another honor from FSR (Full Service Restaurant) Magazine, making their list of America’s Top 20 Culinary Schools.

Tech Center Students Recognized With Breaking Traditions Award

Kent ISD, MI — Rockford High School student Sydney Bogard, who recently graduated from the Tech Center’s Criminal Justice program, was one of 22 Michigan students recently honored with the Michigan Breaking Traditions Merit Award. The award is given to students enrolled in career and technical (CTE) programs who have overcome obstacles and stereotypes to achieve success in their education.

… Kaylee Kuipers, a student from Sparta High School who graduated from the Tech Center’s Information Technology (IT) program, was also a recognized runner-up for the breaking Traditions Award. She said that women in the IT field are rare and expects to have some gender related difficulties when breaking into her career. Despite this potential challenge, Kuiper will duel enroll with GRCC and FSU to pursue a career in software development.

Hause, Marble, and Frodl are named Cedar Springs Athletic Boosters Student Athletes of the Month for June

Senior Anna Hause was named June 2014 Student Athlete of the Month for Soccer.

Anna has been on varsity all 4 years of her high school career. She also has been a 2 year captain for the Red Hawks. Anna is involved with Red Hawk Kids Club, a youth soccer counselor, and is a member of yearbook. Anna has a 3.13 GPA and plans on attending GRCC after graduation.
