The Rapidian’s story fort was collecting our community’s stories at the Movies in the Park in Ah Nab Awen Park on July 11. Jessica Blair, who moved here from Texas to study culinary arts at GRCC, was homeless for the first months in our city. She describes life in her first neighborhood on Division Street and life now, in an apartment in Heritage Hill as she continues her studies.

At least 1,200 command-level officials and community leaders from local, state and federal agencies are expected to attend the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) Annual National Training Conference and Exhibition this week, right here in downtown Grand Rapids., July 12-16 at DeVos Place Convention Center.
… Over 200 students from West Michigan will have the opportunity to dialogue with law enforcement, discuss potential career opportunities, and tour the campuses of Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University’s downtown campus. In addition, one local Grand Rapids Public Schools student will receive a $2,000 scholarship, on behalf of NOBLE.
