The first-ever Maker Faire in this part of the state is coming to Grand Rapids Labor Day weekend, and Grand Rapids Public Museum is hosting the interactive event geared to bolster the maker movement growing locally.

Ohio State football team mixing youth, experience at skill positions

In the world of college football, returning contributors often find themselves with a leg up on younger players, but that isn’t necessarily the case at Ohio State.

… Yet another player hoping to make his mark on the receiving corps is redshirt-junior Corey Smith, who sat out last season after transferring from Grand Rapids Community College in Michigan. Smith said he wants to have a role, but is willing to do whatever is asked of him.

Active Shooter Response Training set for August 18

Run. Hide. Fight (Active Shooter Response Training)

Mon Aug 18, 2014 from 10:30 AM – 12 PM in Room 351 Main

This training is required for all college staff and faculty. The 90 minute training session will be presented by GRCC Police Chief Rebecca Whitman and Lieutenant Scott Merlo, and will describe what an active shooter is; detail the ‘Run Hide Fight’ response to an active shooter situation; explain ways to recognize and report potential threats to our campus, and answer any questions attendees may have.
