First day of school brings changes for students

GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WZZM) – Tuesday was the first day of school for thousands of students across West Michigan, and with a new school year come some changes. Superintendents from Rockford, Wyoming, and Grand Rapids Christian Schools talked with WZZM 13 about their changes. Security was a big topic of discussion for each.

Film director Brian Miller to host workshop at GRCC’s Spectrum Theater

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Director Brian Miller is returning home to take part in a one-night only workshop for those looking for tips on how to make it in the movie business.

Miller, an East Grand Rapids native who most recently directed two films starring Bruce Willis, will be at GRCC’s Spectrum Theater, 160 Fountain St. NE, on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Miller was also at the directorial helm of the film Caught in the Crossfire starring Curtis 50 Cent Jackson, which was filmed in Grand Rapids.

KENTWOOD — First-year head football coach Tony Kimbrough spent 2013 as East Kentwood’s defensive coordinator, but now that he’s in the top spot for the first time in his career, he expects to return to his offensive roots, where he spent quite a few seasons either at GRCC, Western Michigan University, or in the Arena Football League.
