Aldony Mendez on fire, leads NAIA in scoring

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Aldony Mendez hopes to become a professional soccer player some day. But if that doesn’t work out, he wants to be a coach or a police officer.

… Mendez, 21, moved to the U.S. from Guatemala when he was 14 years old. He said he learned English by watching TV and hanging around his Northview teammates. He spent two years at Grand Rapids Community College before transferring to Aquinas.
