Advertising competition offers students real world experience

A group of advertising students from Grand Valley State University and Central Michigan University will have the opportunity to see their ideas translated into a real world advertising campaign for Amway Grand Plaza’s The Hotel Kitchen brand, which produces and sells various sauces.

… The competition is limited to 30 entrants, and students enter individually or in teams. They can come from any college or university in the area, and in the past have come from Calvin College, Central Michigan University, Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, Hope College, Ferris State University, Kendall College of Art & Design, Davenport University and Grand Rapids Community College.

Time is money, the saying goes, and frequently it gets lost in disorganization and disruption. In this workshop, participants will learn how to make the most of their time by getting a grip on their office space, organizing their work flow, and learning how to use their planner effectively.

Please consider attending this workshop if you have time available on Thursday morning. We still have 9 seats left to fill. Our facilitator is Kathy Pyatt. If you have not had the opportunity to attend one of Kathy’s presentations before, you’re in for a treat!

Exercise science department hosts Zumba training

The Exercise Science Department hosted the Zumba Basics Level 1 Instructor Training November 15. The training had 45 participants who are now trained Zumba Level 1 Instructors. The music was great, the moves were fun to learn, but most of all the people were awesome. Congratulations to all of the participants and also to the Exercise Science Department for hosting this amazing event.

Nursing students to help with suicide prevention event

On Saturday, November 22, at the ATC, six AD Nursing students will be assisting our community partners, West Michigan Survivors of Suicide, with our annual observance of the International Survivors of Suicide Day. This event is co-sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and donations from the Out of Darkness Walk held in September.

The focus this year is the prevention of youth suicide. Registration is requested, but there is no charge for attending the event. A light lunch will be provided.

Learn more about local efforts to prevent suicide from Christy Buck, the Executive Director of the Mental Health Foundation of West Michigan. We will also hear from a panel of local survivors who have experienced this tragic loss.

Winter 2015 My eBill

Reminder that GRCC is no longer mailing paper bills. Students must sign on to their Online Student Center and click My eBill under the Finances section to review their eBill.

Students will be able to…

  • Get real-time* electronic tuition bill anytime at My eBill!
  • Pay their tuition online
  • Sign up for the FACTS Payment Plan
  • Review important messages
  • Print an invoice for their records

If a student decides not to attend GRCC, they must officially drop their classes before they start through their Online Student Center to avoid being charged for them.

*All financial aid awards will remain as estimated until the student’s eligibility is verified and funds are officially disbursed to their account. Financial Aid is not real time, it take 24 – 48 hours to update financial aid after changes.

Cashier’s Office will be sending email and phone call reminders now through the tuition due date, December 10, 2014.
