In November, Kyle Los joined Actors Theatre as managing director.

… (Fred) Sebulske, who was a faculty member with the Grand Rapids Community College theater department, founded Actors Theatre in 1980. He was a strong leader with a clear vision, and Actors thrived under his tutelage, but by his retirement, funding had become a challenge and remains so today.

Volunteers needed for information, roaming stations

It’s that time of year again and we are looking for volunteers to help staff the Winter 2015 Information/Roaming Stations, from Monday, January 12, to Thursday, January 15.

You may pick up your apron and lanyard at the Information/Roaming Station, which will be an “information table” that will have materials for students to pick up such as maps, RaiderCard information, etc., as well as the binder with the class schedule for you to use as necessary.

You have the choice to stay at the information table or roam and assist students in your area, in whatever style fits for you. When your shift is done, you will meet your replacement at the information table in your area (or leave your apron there if your replacement does not show.)

Please sign up to help! This system does not work without a LOT of wonderful volunteers. The links for sign up spreadsheets are listed below.

Food Drive Thank you!

On behalf of the Office of Student Life and Conduct, we want to thank all staff and faculty who donated to the GRCC Student Food Pantry at last week’s holiday breakfast (including the large, special donation from John Cowles and Art Johnson). The number of students utilizing the pantry continues to grow, so it can be challenging to keep it well-stocked and provide a variety of items. The donations that came in last week were overwhelming! It took an army to sort and stock all of the food. We are truly grateful and we are positive the donations will be well-received by the students right before the holidays.

Here’s a personal quote that shows you how much your support impacts our students:

Thank you so much! This (food pantry) was such a big help for me and my children. God bless you and your family this holiday! You sure blessed mine! You guys are so awesome and if it were not for GRCC’s food pantry I would have been starving this year. You have been such a big light in my life! Thank you so much! My tears are full of joy!

Employee Reimbursements – Change to Procedures

Financial Services is converting the payment of employee reimbursements from check to ACH deposit. Financial Services will pay all reimbursements on the employee’s paycheck for any reimbursement submitted after January 5, 2015.   The funds pertaining to the employee reimbursement will be electronically deposited into the same bank account designated for your payroll direct deposit.  The details of this reimbursement will appear on your payroll remittance advice that can be accessed online.

How does this impact you?

  • The submission process will be the same for the employee. The employee will continue to scan forms/supporting documents and send information to Financial Services according to current procedures.
  • Nontaxable employee reimbursements will have no effect on payroll taxes when paid on the employee’s paycheck.
  • Employee will receive an email notification from ImageNow when reimbursement has been approved. Then, the reimbursement will be paid on the next available paycheck.
  • If staff would like to view any reimbursements submitted after 1/5/15, you will be able to access them any time on campus via WebNow at https://www.grcc.edu/MyImageNowDocs/ or at https://www.grcc.edu/WebNow/. You must log into WebNow using your GRCC Network UserId and Password to view your reimbursements.
