Campus Police share summer safety tips

Reminder From Campus Police:

Now that we are moving into the summer semester and we have fewer students, and employees in our buildings it is very important to keep our facilities and belongings secure. We have already had a couple of larcenies from offices, as well as finding homeless, intoxicated individuals in our buildings after hours. You can help by following a few simple tips:

  • Do not prop doors open
  • Make sure doors close securely behind you as you enter or exit buildings. (Report any doors that malfunction.)
  • Secure all valuables such as purses, wallets, backpacks, etc. (locked up and out of sight in both office and vehicle.
  • Lock your office when you leave it, even if only for a short time. It doesn’t take long for someone to walk in and out with your possessions in hand.
  • Always lock your vehicle.

Most importantly, please report any suspicious people or activity immediately to Campus Police at 234-4910. We do not allow panhandling or other intrusive behavior on our campus. If you come across someone that has no official GRCC business, please let us know so we can assist them, or direct them to a more appropriate location. If you are able to keep an eye on the person until police arrive that would also be helpful. If not, a good description and last known direction of travel will aid us in locating the individual.
