Aquinas college volleyball signs Katlyn Agren

Grand Rapids, MI — Katlyn Agren has signed her National Letter of Intent to play volleyball for Aquinas College. Agren comes to Aquinas from Grand Rapids Community College. Katlyn was a defensive specialist for a Raider team that was undefeated in conference play in 2015 and won Regional Championships in 2014 and 2015.

Fernandez shoots 82 in final round at regional

St. Clair County Community College’s Matt Fernandez improved Tuesday at the Region XII Division II golf tournament, but not enough to make the climb up the leaderboard he needed.

… Grand Rapids CC won the tournament with a 902, followed closely by Owens CC at 904. Those two teams advance to the national tournament, along with five individuals.

Golf team wins Region XII Championship, heads to Nationals

The GRCC Raider Golf Team won the Region XII Championship, qualifying them for next week’s National Championship in Scottsboro, AL. The Raiders defeated Owens by two strokes to win the nine-team tournament, shooting rounds of 295/301/306. Zach Bialik, a sophomore from Manistee Catholic Central and recently named the GRCC Athlete of the Year, finished runner-up and was named to the All Region Tournament Team. Coach Bruce Vanden Beldt was named the Region XII Coach of the Year. The Raiders travel Monday to Alabama to begin play in the National Championship Tourney.

SICE students tour dairy farm

SICE students and instructors Charlie Olawsky and Sandy Andrews toured Swisslane Dairy Farms in Alto. The group was very enthusiastic, inquisitive and open to new ideas. The big hit was a tour of the robotic milking facility, including a discussion with a veterinarian and a United Dairy Industry of Michigan-registered dietitian.
