GRCC’s Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) chapter, Alpha Upsilon Kappa, attended the PTK Michigan Regional Conference from May 8th – May 10th, 2015, and was recognized for several awards:
The first award, Three Star Chapter Status, was awarded because the chapter successfully raised from a one star rating to a three star rating in only one year. All PTK Chapters strive to make it to the top level, five star, and the GRCC chapter made great progress this year.
The second award, 3rd place in Honors In Action, was awarded due to the fantastic work that the chapter completed on our Honors In Action Project. The project matched new CLS 100 students with PTK and Honor’s student mentors and made a huge impact on the success of new students in CLS 100 classes.
The third award, a Chapter Milestone Award, was awarded to the GRCC PTK chapter because they made the most progress of all of the chapters in the state of Michigan.
In addition, Shannon Gamel, current PTK President at GRCC, ran for and was elected to the Vice President position of the Michigan Regional Alumni Association of PTK.
Advisers of the GRCC chapter are Erin Busscher, Jason Schueller, and Lynnae Selberg.
