Remember Elizabeth Wilson with special screening of ‘The Graduate’ at Celebration! Cinema

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Actress Elizabeth Wilson’s life and career will be remembered Wednesday with a special screening of the 1967 film “The Graduate” starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft.

… The 1940 graduate of Grand Rapids Central High School first acted at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, appearing in a production of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” while attending the former Grand Rapids Junior College, now Grand Rapids Community College.

Lowell baseball’s resilience has shined behind impeccable pitching staff

For the second consecutive year the Lowell baseball team finished on top of the OK White conference. But this year was different thanks to the “best pitching staff ever,” according to coach Juston Miller.

20 semi-finalists announced in SmartArt competition

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Nearly two dozen students from Grand Rapids Public Schools are competing to have their energy-related work displayed during this year’s ArtPrize competition.

… The 20 semi-finalists will now be judge by a panel of art professionals from Kendall College of Art & Design at Ferris State University, Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. The top winners will be announced at the start of ArtPrize 2015 on Sept. 23.
