Bookstore to close July 1 and 2

Because of a planned Student Center power outage due to the renovation, the GRCC Bookstore will be closed for business on Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2. We will reopen for business on Monday July 6.

  1. When was this notice first posted for faculty and students? Why does the bookstore website have a note that says the bookstore will remain open the entire summer, as normal, despite the Student Center renovation? The timing of this closure is very inconvenient for students the first few days of the second summer session. Students who did not purchase required materials beforehand were given only one day to shop the bookstore. As this second session lasts only 6 weeks, time is of the essence for students to begin completing assignments given the first week of classes. They need their required materials.

    • We apologize for the inconvenience. We first got word of the power outage on June 25 and posted that day. While we spread the word on social media, we didn’t get the webpage updated. Thanks for letting us know about this oversight.

  2. As of today, July 1, the following is still posted on the bookstore website:

    Normal Summer Semester Hours

    Monday – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Tuesday – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Wednesday – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Thursday – 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Friday – 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

The bookstore will remain open during the Student Center remodel throughout the summer. Services will continue to be inside the bookstore on the first floor or in the Farside Room, also located on the first floor.
