West Michigan restaurants experiencing chef shortage

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It’s a sign of economic times, but in a good way. With new restaurants opening up their doors, that means demand for qualified chefs is heating up. It’s creating more competitive wages for cooks, even those just getting into their field.

… Grand Rapids Community College’s Secchia Institute for Culinary Education said that there are more employers contacting them than there are graduating students. The school also said that wages are rapidly increasing as restaurants seek more talented cooks.

Spectrum Theater Update

The 2nd floor of the Spectrum Theater (including the theater offices) will be closed Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21 for the installation of new flooring in hallways.

Please know our box office will be open Monday, August 17 through Wednesday, August 19 from 1pm to 5pm (box office is located off of the main lobby on Fountain Street), and the Heritage Theater musical “Tip$” will perform on the main stage as scheduled (8pm curtain August 20 – 22). Scribes needed for fall

We are looking for scribes for FALL 2015 if anyone would like to recommend a student who has excelled in their classes or has a passion for helping others. The student will receive free staff parking for the semester. They need to be currently enrolled and not have any scheduling conflicts.
