GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The creation and ongoing implementation of the juried awards at ArtPrize are, without doubt, one of organization’s most compelling and important endeavors.

… Considering the vast field of entries for two-dimensional work, jurying this category may have been the most difficult task of all. John Haverty’s massive and eclectic vision, “Gangrene,” at the Boardwalk GR Condominiums is a must see and experience event as no reproduction can offer the work any justice. “Guryong Village, Seoul” by Soohyun Kim, at Grand Rapids Community College’s Collins Art Gallery, is a compelling statement about the chaos and crowds of poverty inside a shanty town in one of Asia’s wealthiest cities.

MSU IAT offers certificate programs

EAST LANSING, MI — The Michigan State University Institute of Agricultural Technology (IAT) is offering academic programs in partnership with seven community colleges across the state and on campus in East Lansing where students can earn certificates in programs ranging from agricultural operations to electrical technology.

IAT has been conducting practical plant, animal and technology certificate courses in East Lansing for more than 100 years. Now MSU has partnered with Southwest Michigan College, Grand Rapids Community College, Muskegon Community College, Montcalm Community College, Northwestern Michigan College, Delta College and Glen Oaks Community College to offer a variety of certificate programs at each location.
