SIRHA RIO 2015 – Coupe du monde de la pârtisserie

Durante o Sirha Rio, GL events promoverá a seletiva brasileira da Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie (CMP). O evento é referência na arte da alta pâtisserie no mundo inteiro, revelando novos talentos da área. No Rio, será no dia 14 de outubro, no Centro de Convenções SulAmérica. Quatro candidatos competirão pela chance de ir para a etapa Latino Americana do concurso, no México, em 2016. De lá sairá a equipe que vai representar o continente na final mundial em Lyon, em 2017.

Federico começou a fazer suas próprias receitas aos seis anos, incentivado pela família. Mais tarde se formou nos Estados Unidos pela Grand Rapids Community College, fez especialização na École Lenôtre na França, e tem também diploma de padeiro no SENAI. Começou a trabalhar com Laurent Suaudeau como chef de confeitaria e logo se tornou o chef executivo de confeitaria do Hotel Hilton São Paulo Morumbi. Passou também pelo cargo de chef executivo de confeitaria e padaria do grupo Fasano. Foi chef proprietário da Flavio Federico Dolci, empresa que tocou por onze anos. Hoje se dedica ao mercado de consultorias.

Ohio State notebook: Urban Meyer laments loss of Corey Smith for season

As Ohio State coach Urban Meyer turned his attention to a game on Saturday against Maryland, he took pause over one occurrence in the victory at Indiana, the loss of senior receiver Corey Smith.

… Smith is lost for the season, which was to have been his last at Ohio State, though Meyer said he might appeal for an injury-hardship sixth year of eligibility. Smith, from Akron, had played at Grand Rapids (Mich.) Community College in 2011 and then at East Mississippi CC in Scooba, Miss., in 2012 after the Grand Rapids school closed its football program.

Grand Rapids High School Junior Wins Top Prize in Consumers Energy Sponsored Student Art Competition

WASHINGTON, D.C. October 5, 2015 (RealEstateRama) — A Grand Rapids Public Schools junior’s painting depicting the benefits and beauty of energy efficiency has earned her a $1,000 college scholarship and prominent display of her winning creation in downtown Grand Rapids as ArtPrize heads into its final week.

… The Top 20 were then judged by a panel of experts from Kendall College of Art & Design at Ferris State University, Grand Rapids Community College and Grand Valley State University. About two weeks ago, Consumers Energy and GRPS hosted the Top 20 students and their teachers at the districts headquarters to announce the Top 10 finalists and to celebrate everyone’s achievements. The remaining top finalists received a variety of prizes; all 20 students received a special T-shirt with all of their names included on the back and a rendering of the Top 10 banner on the front.

Muskegon Community College recap: Volleyball sweeps Ancilla, sets up big week

The Muskegon Community College women’s volleyball team cruised to a 25-11, 25-20, 25-10 win over Ancilla College Tuesday to set up a huge week.

… MCC hosts defending conference champion Grand Rapids Community College Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. and Kalamazoo Valley on Thursday in a pair of matches with huge title implications.

Understand Copyright Law — the Library Can Help

copyright symbolUnder GRCC policy, all employees must comply with U.S. Copyright Law.

The most straightforward way to guarantee compliance is to obtain a copyright holder’s written permission. When duplication services are needed for classroom use, instructors should be prepared to clearly demonstrate permission for things like pages from Instructor Manuals and Test Banks, copies of media, and online sources. At the discretion of Media Technologies or GRCC ePrint, further proof of permission may be required.

Anyone who disregards copyright does so at their own risk, assuming all liability, including criminal penalty as defined in Title 17 of the U.S. Code. Normally, this is not a matter involving the GRCC Legal Office.

“Fair Use”

There is no simple test to determine “fair use”; only the courts can authoritatively determine “fair use.” Section 107 of the Copyright Act sets forth four considerations to help you judge “fair use:”

  1. The purpose and character of use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for nonprofit educational purposes
  2. The nature of the copyrighted work
  3. The amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole
  4. The effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work
