Fall provides challenges for warming, cooling GRCC spaces

During this beautiful fall season, we do our best to keep everyone as comfortable as possible in an efficient and sustainable manor. This can be a challenge when outdoor temperatures change rapidly from hot to cold – even within the confines of a single day. This means the heat might be on warming up the building on a chilly morning, but require cooling on a warm afternoon. Often it is too cool outside to air condition spaces, but too warm to heat spaces. Therefore, we attempt to use the outside temperatures to our advantage to provide limited mechanical heating and cooling to buildings during these periods. . Here are some ideas if you are feeling a little warm or cold during these times:

  • Dress in layers
  • Keep office and classroom doors closed
  • Know where the thermostat is in your area and make sure that it is not being blocked or that an electrical appliance is affecting it.
  • If you have windows in your area, open the blinds on sunny days and be sure to close them at night

If you have any questions or concerns please contact your building manager, Dorothy Paradis at 4700 or the Facilities office at 4057
