Conectate (or Get Connected) event was hosted by the College Success Center on September 30, 2015, to engage our new Latino student population. Our Latino student population has tripled in the last decade and trends continue to see fast growth. However, this population is still struggling academically and this was one, of many initiatives put in place to help this student group thrive at GRCC.
Conectate provided these students and their families with informative presentations around paying for college and the supports available to them. We also invited a student panel to help these students get a student and alumni perspective.
The College Success Center is also putting together a mentoring program for faculty and staff to become a mentor as part of the Latino Student Support Program. If you would like to participate as one of our mentors, please feel free to check out the College Success Center’s website for more information or to fill out a A.L.A.S. Mentor Intake Form. http://www.grcc.edu/collegesuccesscenter/latinostudentsupport
