Greenville’s Forton accepts GRCC golf coaching job

Chefs share some recipes for your Thanksgiving dinner

Holland, Mich. — It’s time to talk turkey about your Thanksgiving dinner. Traditional menus go something like this: turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, fruit salad and dessert. If your menu needs a little ramping up, local chefs have shared some of their recipes to add to your table.

Feutz Honored by Mechanical Service Contractors Association for Work with Students

A Ferris State University Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration associate professor has received an award from the Mechanical Service Contractors of America, for his work with students in the program.

… (Mike) Feutz earned his associates degree in HVACR from Grand Rapids Junior College, now Grand Rapids Community College; a Bachelor of Science degree in HVACR Engineering Technology and a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education, from Ferris; and his Ph.D in Educational Leadership from Western Michigan University.

Grand Rapids’ oldest black Baptist church celebrates 125th anniversary

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Messiah Missionary Baptist Church in Grand Rapids was the realization of one pioneering woman’s dream.

… Today, some 800 people are members of the church that has flourished because of “God’s grace, good leadership and strong membership,” according to the Rev. Eric Williams, associate pastor.

… “He (the Rev. Clifton Rhodes Jr.) was one of the first African Americans to graduate from the school there and went on to become a part of the board of trustees,” said Williams, who is executive director for equity affairs at Grand Rapids Community College.
