Free help for families filling out student aid FAFSA forms for college

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Don’t lose out on thousands of dollars for college – that’s what school leaders are telling students graduating from high school this spring.

Worksighted announces promotion

Holland, Mich. — Worksighted, an information technology services company in West Michigan, recently announced the promotion of Nicholas Genther to lead dispatcher on the remote support team in Holland.

Genther, of Hopkins, will be the first point of contact for customer support and will ensure items are addressed in a timely fashion. Genther joined the company in November. He received an associate degree from Grand Rapids Community College.

Basketball teams face Muskegon tonight

The men’s and women’s basketball teams will host Muskegon CC tonight (Feb. 3). The Lady Raiders (11-9, 5-4 MCCAA-West) are on a two-game winning streak and sit one game behind Muskegon (16-6, 6-3) in the MCCAA-Western Conference standings. GRCC fell to MCC back on January 6th, 63-58. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.

The GRCC men (9-10, 2-7) are coming off a tough defeat to Glen Oaks CC, where the Raiders relinquished the lead with seven seconds remaining in the game. The Raiders will face a confident group in the Muskegon Jayhawks (17-4, 7-2). In the previous meeting this season, the Jayhawks defeated the Raiders by a score of 93-77. The men will tip off at 7:30 p.m.

Scholarship workshop offered by College Success Center

Do your students know about their scholarship opportunities? The College Success Center is offering three dates this month to assist students in applying for the GRCC Foundation Scholarship and the Grand Rapids Foundation Scholarship. This workshop is meant to guide students through the application process and give them tips on what makes a strong scholarship application.

Dates: Tuesday February 9th 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm, Thursday February 11th 9:00 am – 10:00 am, Wednesday February 17th 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm.

International Guitar Series to feature competition winner

GRCC’s International Guitar Series will showcase the winner of the 2014 Guitar Foundation of America Solo Competition on February 18.

Ekachai Jearakul has won 12 first prizes at prestigious guitar competitions in Europe, Asia, and North America. He has performed in more than 16 countries, including China, France, Russia, England, Italy and Spain.

His performance starts at 7:30 p.m. February 18 in the Music Center. To purchase tickets, click here.
