The winter season is heading down the homestretch for local college athletes and a number of former area high school standouts are turning in strong seasons with their college teams. Following is a look at some area high school graduates who have been making their mark on the college scene this winter.
… Former Wyoming standout Noel Hernandez is turning in an impressive collegiate debut with the Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team. A freshman forward, Hernandez is averaging 7 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals per game for the Raiders. Hernandez scored a season-high 18 points against Ancilla College.

The winter season is heading down the homestretch for local college athletes and a number of former area high school standouts are turning in strong seasons with their college teams. Following is a look at some area high school graduates who have been making their mark on the college scene this winter.
… A pair of Union grads are teaming up with the Grand Rapids Community College women’s basketball team. Sophomore point guard Deiona Rogers is averaging 12.5 points per game and shooting 42% from the field. Rogers is also pulling down 8.6 rebounds, while adding 5.3 assists and 3.6 steals per game. Freshman center Cassie Dawson is contributing 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 points per game.
