Outer Vibe making ABQ debut as it blazes new trails

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The members of The Outer Vibe are always up for an adventure.

… The Outer Vibe is known for its cinematic surf disco. The band started while some of the members were students at Grand Rapids Community College.

Campus Dining spring break hours

Campus Dining’s retail locations (The Raider Grille, The Quiet Cafe & The Sneden Cafe) will be closed March 7th – March 11th and will reopen during the regular business hours on Monday, March 14th.

IT to conduct maintenance

GRCC IT will be conducting required maintenance beginning 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 8th and ending by 7:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 9th. The maintenance will result in the following service interruptions:

Blackboard: Blackboard will be available but uploaded content such as documents, presentation slides, and videos, will be intermittently unavailable.

GRCC Website: The web site itself may be unavailable for all or part of the duration of maintenance. If it is available during the maintenance, uploaded content such as documents, PDFs, and images will be intermittently unavailable and pages may appear abnormal.

ImageNow: ImageNow will be unavailable for the duration of maintenance.

Raider Salute to Bryan Door, Alfred Lazo, Shane Flynn

A HUGE Raider Salute goes out to Bryan Door, Alfred Lazo, and Shane Flynn for working diligently to ensure that the entire IT Customer Support Desk team stations were moved back after our office reconfiguration. They took extra precautions to ensure that each station was moved back and set up in a timely manner and went above and beyond to ensure we were all functioning without any end users noticing the transition!

Chris Sain Jr. a Student Success Scholar on Black Male Achievement

Chris Sain Jr, coordinator of Student Success and Retention, was invited by the Michigan Department of Education to speak as part of their annual Black History Event. The event, titled “A Conversation Spanning Decades” was televised live on PBS and featured eight other panelists from the State of Michigan. Chris candidly spoke about Black Male Achievement and Achievement Gaps sharing with the State Superintendent and other stakeholders, that “students cannot be what they cannot see” and the way “mass media ideas, dramatically reinforce some of the most negative conceptions of our students of color.”

IIPD Grants: Funding Opportunity

The deadline for the submission of grant applications for the Instructional Improvement & Professional Development (IIPD) Grants program is 4:30 p.m., March 18, 2016. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications electronically. The IIPD application packet and IIPD Guidelines are available in the GRCC Internal Grants area of the Grants Office website at www.grcc.edu/grants.
