Chris Sain Jr, coordinator of Student Success and Retention, was invited by the Michigan Department of Education to speak as part of their annual Black History Event. The event, titled “A Conversation Spanning Decades” was televised live on PBS and featured eight other panelists from the State of Michigan. Chris candidly spoke about Black Male Achievement and Achievement Gaps sharing with the State Superintendent and other stakeholders, that “students cannot be what they cannot see” and the way “mass media ideas, dramatically reinforce some of the most negative conceptions of our students of color.”
