Local educators react to feds’ guidelines on transgender protection

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The White House is reaffirming their stand on one of the most divisive social issues to hit the country in a long time.
…“We see this as consistent with Title IX, and quite frankly, we see this as the right thing to do,” said Kimberly DeVries, equal opportunity compliance director at Grand Rapids Community College.

 

Former East Grand Rapids football players, friend launch Southern Hound clothing line

…Carter and three childhood friends – Jack VanGessel, Conor Conaboy and Mac Grysbek – have recently launched their own clothing line – a classic, countryside brand called Southern Hound.
…All four are studying business in college, with VanGessel attending Grand Rapids Community College, Conaboy Michigan State and Gryzbek the University of Charleston.

SPARTA – Be it hunting down wins on the softball field or tracking wild game in the woods, Sparta softball players Mollie Hill and Tiffany Tasma are a pair of productive student-athletes.
…“Mollie maintains a 3.46 GPA and plans to attend Grand Rapids Community College next year,” Hutchens said. “In her spare time, she enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, and going hunting and fishing.”
