GRCC students, faculty request subsidized 25-cent bus fares

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The Grand Rapids Community College Faculty Association is asking the college to subsidize bus ridership on The Rapid so students, staff and faculty only pay 25 cents.

Kicking off the day’s top stories: The teenager accused of randomly stabbing and killing a woman at Grand Rapids Community College is expected to return to court. Nineteen-year-old Marcus Bivens is scheduled to appear in Grand Rapids District Court at 9 o’clock this morning so a judge can decide if there’s enough evidence to send his case to trial.

GRCC runners finish strong in Riverbank Run

Grand Rapids, Mich. — On a blustery Saturday morning, six members of the Raider cross country team toed the line for the 39th annual Riverbank Run 25k race.  In the group were three from the men’s team — Brett Slayton, Kirk Dickson and Brett Heintzelman chose the 25k as their off-season training goal at the end of the 2015 season.

No. 19 Jackson College baseball heads to NJCAA Region XII Tournament as top seed

JACKSON — It took the Jackson College baseball team a little time to get going this season.

… If the Jets win, they advance to face either Grand Rapids Community College or Delta College at noon Thursday at CO Brown Stadium. A loss in the opening game sends the Jets to an elimination game against the loser of the Grand Rapids-Delta game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
