GRCC board approves $108M budget for next year

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — The Grand Rapids Community College Board of Trustees on Monday, June 20, unanimously approved a $107.9 million budget for 2016-17, which reflects a tuition increase, enrollment decline and new initiatives to improve student success.

STEM-themed conference connects students to mentors, friends

It may not sound like fun to you, but Yajiing Wang is looking forward to listening to speeches at the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders, June 29 through July 1, in Lowell, Mass.

“I’m so excited because I’m interested in mathematics and probably in college will major in engineering,” said Yajiing. She plans to attend Grand Rapids Community College first to accumulate basic college credits. She is happy for the opportunity to “listen to the mentors’ ideas, the future of technology, and to make more friends.”

50+ restaurants to participate in Restaurant Week GR

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — More than 50 restaurants are expected to take part in Restaurant Week Grand Rapids in August.

… Restaurant Week also helps support students at the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education. One dollar of every meal sold during Restaurant Week will be donated to the Secchia Institute for Culinary Educations Student Scholarship Fund at Grand Rapids Community College. Since 2010, more than $110,000 has been raised for the scholarship fund.

Interim tapped to oversee raising funds for Aquinas College

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Aquinas College announced Patricia Castiglione as the new vice president and executive director of the Aquinas College Foundation Monday, June 20, dropping her interim tag.

… Prior to her interim role, Castiglione was the director of major and planned gifts at Aquinas where she has worked since 2013. She has also served as Grand Rapids Community College’s director of annual giving and was vice president at TeMON Consulting.
