Kent County commissioners approve Switch tax breaks

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Kent County commissioners unanimously approved tax breaks for tech company Switch.

… At the commission meeting, Switch Vice President Adam Kramer said they are working with Grand Rapids Community College on job and training programs.

Samantha Henry graduated with her class at Hudsonville High School in June 2016. Five years ago, there was a big question as to whether that would happen.

Grand Valley State committed to advancing Latino student success

In August, about 80 students and their families will be welcomed at Grand Valley State University for the third annual Laker Familia, an orientation specific to Latino and Latina students.

… Our work for and with Latino students goes beyond Grand Valley’s campus. For example, we have partnered with Grand Rapids Community College on several pipeline programs for middle and high school students, and we have joined with the Hispanic Center of West Michigan to bring 60 Latino youth to campus for a college readiness program, Supporting Our Leaders.
