Restaurant Week starts in 3 weeks, make reservations now

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. – The 7th Annual Restaurants Week GR is just three weeks away! The event will run from August 10 through 21.

… Each restaurant that participates in RWGR donates $1 from every Restaurant Week meal sold during the event to the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education Student Scholarship Fund.

AMBA Awards Scholarships to Students Entering the Industry

The National office of the American Mold Builders Association (AMBA), Indianapolis, Indiana, recently announced the recipients of its 2016 Scholarship Awards Program. To date, more than $263,000 has been awarded nationally since the programs inception in 1991, demonstrating the AMBA’s commitment to the industry, education and offering valuable member benefits.

Two Grand Rapids school board members won’t seek reelection

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Two of three Grand Rapids school board members up for reelection say they won’t seek second terms because of the time commitment – Dr. Monica Randles and Pastor Nathaniel Moody.

… Besides (Jennifer) Schottke and (Raynard) Ross, an associate dean at Grand Rapids Community College, the other two people who have filed for the four vacant seats are: Jacob Walls, senior financial analyst with Amway Corporation and a finalist for LaGrand’s seat; and Thurston Willoughby, a minister with New Life Church of God In Christ and manufacturing technician with Amway Global.

… But the work was unfulfilling and the classes bored him, and when the coach of the Grand Rapids Community College basketball team invited him to try out for the team, he quit his job and sprang at the opportunity. Maberry made the roster and, finally, figured he had a chance get noticed and begin a path to professional ball.

GRCC to hold online sale on July 21

Grand Rapids Community College will be hosting an Online Sale on July 21. This sale, running from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., will feature retired College technology and resources including laptops, desktops, monitors, electronics, lost & found items, and many others! A specific inventory listing will be available the day of the sale.
