Grand Rapids ranked among safest college towns in US

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A new editorial has ranked Grand Rapids among the safest college towns in the U.S.

… It also looked at Grand Rapids Community College and the safety services provided by campus police which includes disabled vehicle assistance and a personal escort service.

Craft Beer College Courses

The Grand Rapids Community College has created the new Craft Brewing, Packaging and Service Operations Certificate program to help get students ready for the beer industry. Given the booming beer market that’s prevalent in Michigan, the College created the program to help get students ready for the industry that is showing significant growth across the nation.

GVSU teams up with local colleges to offer students a Grand Rapids tour

Within the last few years, Grand Rapids has become known as a hotspot for arts and culture, the food industry and a variety of nightlife attractions.

As part of a campaign with Aquinas College, Calvin College, Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) and Grand Valley State University, students will have the chance to experience some of the downtown Grand Rapids attractions from Sept. 12-18.

Lakeview police chief honored with award

LAKEVIEW — On behalf of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Jim Perkins recently presented Lakeview Police Chief Darin Dood an award in recognition for his service to the community in law enforcement.

… Dood has been in law enforcement for 16 years. He didn’t go into police work right after college graduation. He tried a few things before going to Grand Rapids Community College to pursue a job in law enforcement.
