Students enrolling in math courses starting Winter 2017 will be required to take the ALEKS math placement assessment first. ALEKS will take the place of the math portion of Accuplacer, which will still assess English proficiency. After a student takes ALEKS, they will be placed into math courses based on course prerequisites or ALEKS placement scores.
A student can enroll in the course they were placed in, or they can retake ALEKS.
Students will have four chances, with in twelve months, to retake ALEKS. They must wait 48 hours between retakes. To make each attempt worthwhile and to improve their skills with the goal of earning a better score, students must spend at least five hours between retakes working in a ALEKS Prep and Learning Module.
