Restaurant Week Grand Rapids will award six student scholarships today to students at Grand Rapids Community College.

Six culinary students will receive scholarship awards today, thanks to Restaurant Week Grand Rapids. More than 60 restaurants that took part in the August competition donated a dollar from each Restaurant Week meal to be put toward a scholarship fund for the Secchia Institute for Culinary Education at GRCC.

Leadership Institute 2017

The Grand Rapids Community College Leadership Institute is a 12-month leadership program committed to strengthening new or emerging leaders from across campus. This program is geared to foster a broader understanding of the campus community, accelerate talent development, and hone individual and team leadership skills. The Leadership Institute is designed for individual employees who have the capacity and desire to make a positive influence on our campus. Leadership Institute includes content pertinent to talent identification, leadership development, and addressing issues relevant to the college community.

Staff development workshops cover stress, FMLA, self-defense

Upcoming staff development workshops:

  • “De-Stress: The Art & Science of Managing Stress,” on  October 18: Learn what is happening in your brain when you’re stressed out and how to cope! You’ll learn about stress triggers and how to manage in the moment.
  •  “Personal Self Defense,” on October 18 and 25: Become more self aware & learn basic self defense techniques at this fun and informative workshop!
  • “FMLA – What’s in it for you?” on October 19: Join our very own Lydia Cruz for a presentation and discussion about the Family Medical Leave Act and learn about qualifying events and coverage.

Putting Input into Action sessions to be held

GRCC has received our PACE (Personal Assessment of the College Environment) survey results. We are now offering “Putting Input Into Action” sessions for employees to learn more about the results and to talk about what improvement looks like. We hope to see you at one of our sessions where you can take advantage of the opportunity to engage in the discussions around improvement.
