Precision metal fabricator DeWys Mfg. Inc., Marne, Mich., participated in Manufacturing Day for the fourth year in a row, opening its doors to the public to help promote the skilled trade industry and the advanced manufacturing processes the company provides its customers.

The company hosted 155 students from Kent Intermediate School District, Discover Elementary, and Ridge Park Charter Academy. They received a shop tour, participated in a team-building activity, and explored the MCAM trailer provided by Grand Rapids Community College. The firm also hosted 15 math and science teachers organized through the Kent ISD. The teachers took a mechanical reasoning test to show the initial steps taken in the hiring process, viewed a short video on the company, and participated in a question-and-answer panel about career paths in manufacturing with four company employees.
