GRCC Preschool faculty are raising money to support CASA’s annual Thanksgiving meal for children in Kent County who are in the court system because of abuse and neglect. These children are often taken from their homes and placed in temporary foster homes, and this event provides an opportunity for siblings to reconnect.
Please help us at this time of giving thanks! Penny Folsom will collect monetary donations through Nov. 19 – a receipt will be provided, as needed. The Thanksgiving meal will be served Nov. 21 at a local church.
CASA of Kent County is a nonprofit program that’s primary focus is to serve children in child protective proceedings by appointing screened, trained community volunteers to advocate in the best interest of children who are temporary or permanent wards of the court. CASA volunteers serve to present information to the court, reduce the time a child spends in out-of-home care, and provide continuity for the child by having at least one person who is involved with the case from the beginning until the end.
