Cory and Tarra Davis, husband and wife, and co-owners of Daddy Pete’s BBQ were guest speakers on Monday, November 7, 2016, at GRCC’s Small Business Management class. Daddy Pete’s formally started as a food truck company in 2013. Their immediate popularity caused them to take on the motto, “The Lines Don’t Lie.” They are well known for being at ArtPrize and Movies in the Park. They recently won the Bacon Fest People’s Choice Award. At the end of November 2016, Daddy Pete’s plans to open a restaurant at 2921 Eastern. They will still have their food trucks present around Grand Rapids. Students in the Small Business class were inspired by the story of Daddy Pete’s beginning and their incredible growth. The couple discussed their challenges of owning a family business, the importance of a business plan, and a message to students: “Do what you love.”
