Hope College faculty member to receive Giants Award

Edye Evans Hyde of the Hope College music faculty will receive the Ethel Coe Humanities Award during the 35th annual Giants Awards and Banquet Ceremony on Feb. 4 in Grand Rapids.

… The Giants Awards recognize African-Americans for exceptional contributions in shaping the history and quality of life in Grand Rapids and are coordinated by Grand Rapids Community College’s Bob and Aleicia Woodrick Center for Equity and Inclusion.

Construction firm names director of operations

… He (Jeremy Amshey) holds a construction management degree from Ferris State University and an associate’s degree in architectural graphics from Grand Rapids Community College.

Jets hire Saints’ John Morton as offensive coordinator

NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Jets found someone to lead their offense. Next up: the search for a quarterback.

… (John) Morton, a former wide receiver at Grand Rapids Community College and then Western Michigan, spent time on the practice squads of Oakland, Green Bay and Jacksonville. He also played briefly in the CFL and World League of American Football.
