Eight new employees now working for TowerPinkster

Feb. 9, 2017; Second Wave Southwest Michigan

Eight new employees have joined TowerPinkster, an architecture and engineering firm that specializes in education, healthcare, commercial, and governmental building design.

… Allyson Andrews and Marissa Dotson have joined the TowerPinkster as interns. Andrews is an Architectural Intern from Grand Rapids Community College where she is earning her Associate of Arts. She recently earned her Engineering Technology Computer-Aided Drafting and Design certificate from Kent Career Technical Center. Dotson is a senior studying Interior Design at Western Michigan University.

Admissions and Enrollment to host high school counselors on Feb. 10

Admissions & Enrollment is hosting our annual High School Counselor Update Breakfast on Friday, February 10th. The event will take place in the Preschool multipurpose room beginning at 8 a.m. We have communicated the location and directions with the attendees and will have signs and staff directing attendees to that location. But we did want to make all staff aware, just in case someone gets lost and shows up in your office.  Please send them up to the Preschool!

Jeffrey Drake-Todd named NJCAA Division II National Player of the Week

Jeffrey Drake-ToddCongratulations to sophomore guard Jeffrey Drake-Todd, who was honored by the NJCAA as the Division II National Player of the Week for his efforts on the basketball court.

Against Jackson College on Feb. 1, Drake-Todd played 38 minutes, scored 29 points, pulled down 8 rebounds, dished out 5 assists and nabbed 2 steals in a 84-77 win. On Feb. 5, Drake-Todd continued to lead the team when the second-place Muskegon Jayhawks came to town. He displayed tremendous stamina as he played all 40 minutes of the contest, while leading the team in scoring with 26 points on 9 of 18 shooting, securing 4 rebounds, adding 7 assists and 3 steals in the win over rival Muskegon. For the week, Drake-Todd averaged 27.5 points, 6 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 2.5 steals.

Nominations for student leadership awards due Feb. 10

Nominations are up for the Annual Student Leadership Banquet. Any member of Grand Rapids Community College (student, faculty, staff or Board of Trustee member) can nominate a qualified current GRCC student for a student leadership award. There is also the Jerry Benham Award for Staff and Faculty, which is awarded to any current GRCC staff or faculty member who has actively supported the leadership development of students. Nomination forms need to be received by the Student Life Office no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, for consideration. The Student Leadership Banquet is an annual event focused on recognizing the success and accomplishments of student leaders on campus. This year’s banquet will be held on Wednesday, April 5, at the L.V. Eberhard Center located on Grand Valley State University’s Pew Campus from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Registration for the banquet closes Friday, March 24th
