GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Gov. Rick Snyder’s proposed $56.3 billion state budget for next fiscal year has no recommended increase for community colleges.

Like other Michigan Community Colleges grappling with declining enrollment, Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) has to make difficult decisions about its spending habits and the level of tuition increase with deadlines for next year’s budget looming.

Free transportation to neighborhood summit filling up fast

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Officials with Grand Rapids Public Schools, co-sponsor of the third annual Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit, say free transportation to and from the event Saturday, March 4, is filling up fast.

… The summit is being held at the Grand Rapids Community College Applied Technology Center, 151 Fountain St. NE, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Free breakfast and lunch will be provided. For more information about the summit, visit the website.

Spirit Week ends with basketball, dance

GRCC’s Spirit Week wraps up with basketball and a dance:

Feb. 24

  • Pep Rallies — Pep rallies will be held during both the women’s and men’s basketball games, which start at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively, in the fieldhouse. Free admission!
  • Homecoming dance — This will start following the basketball games (about 9:30-11:30 p.m.) in the Raider Grille. Doors will be locked at 10 p.m., so students should arrive before that time.

Feb. 25

  • GRCC Night at the Grand Rapids Drive — The Grand Rapids Drive will face off against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7 p.m. in the DeltaPlex, 2500 Turner Ave. NW. GRCC students, faculty and staff can purchase discounted tickets online, and parking is $5.
