The Literacy Center of West Michigan realized 16 years ago that the workforce was full of employees with untapped leadership potential: those who struggle with literacy.

The thrill of victory often includes a nice payoff: hardware. Trophies, plaques and ribbons adorn college athletic departments across the Grand Rapids area. There are all kinds of display cases, from modest to opulent, housed in various locations and each with a history lesson. They are old nets, old photos and trophies of all ages, shapes and sizes. As Grand Rapids Coach, David Glazier said after the contest, “If you don’t shoot in this gym every day, it can be a hard place to play.” He was talking about the ‘wide open spaces’ of GRCC’s Ford Fieldhouse, and it has taken its effect on many a visiting team’s shooting prowess. Even solid teams like KVCC’s sixth-ranked Cougars.
McCallum Returns To The Drive

GRAND RAPIDS, MICH -The Grand Rapids Drive, the NBA D-League Affiliate of the Detroit Pistons announced today that Ray McCallum has returned to the team’s roster after receiving a GATORADE Call-Up totaling 20 days from the Charlotte Hornets.
… McCallum returns to the Grand Rapids Drive for tonight’s game when the team hosts the Rio Grande Valley Vipers at 7 PM at the DeltaPlex Arena. Tonight’s game is the Drive’s Metro Health Family Night (All Saturday Games) which features 4 tickets, 4 hotdogs, 4 sodas for $44 and is a Jersey Takeover Night sponsored by Grand Rapids Community College. Players will wear custom Navy and White jerseys for the game. The custom jerseys will be able to be bid on throughout the game and the winner of the jersey will be able to meet the player and have their photo taken with them post-game and receive a signed jersey.
